Picto titre  Floating Outputs

With this option, none of the poles ( + and - ) is connected to the ground.
The machine is delivered with :
  • two (2) shielded connectors ( PLUS pole and MINUS pole )
  • two (2) HV shielded cables

The maximum potential between each pole and the chassis has mandatory to be determined.

Floating option

IMPORTANT REMARK:
In view of providing the appropriate insulation, TECHNIX has to be informed on the maximum potential which could be introduced by an external source upon each of the 2 outputs of the generator.
This external source should consist in a DC, AC and /or transient events and disturbance due to environment.

Example 1: 2 KV Floating Generator with external potential.

In this example, the external potential introduced on the negative pole is at + 10 KV. Floating Option

Consequently, the positive pole potential will be at +12 KV refered to the chassis.
TECHNIX will provide an insulation of the generator up to 12 KV but not for an higher voltage.

If this condition is not respected, damages of the generator may result without any responsibility of TECHNIX.

To be more general, TECHNIX will ensure the insulation of the generator up to the insulation voltage calculated with the following formula :

Max Insulation

Example 2: 2 KV Floating generator with no external potential

Floating Options In this example, no potential is introduced by outside.

In the case of no external potential is introduced, the output potentials will balance automatically at half of the Output Voltage, refered to the chassis. Even in this case, we recommand to add protections between each generator output and the chassis.
